DCNR's Cindy Dunn Receives Karl Mason Award From PA Environmental Professionals

DCNR Deputy Secretary Cindy Dunn was honored by the PA Association of Environmental Professionals with the Karl Mason Award for her “significant contribution to the betterment of Pennsylvania's environment.”

Karl Mason served as Pennsylvania’s first State Environmental Administrator from 1952 until his death in 1966. The association describes Mason as an environmental leader who “believed and put into practice the notion that environmental protection is primarily the business of professionals who have the skills by virtue of their scientific training to manage the technical and scientific complexities of maintaining a safe, healthy and clean environment.”

The Karl Mason Award was created to commemorate his vision of a strong, well-managed environmental program. Stewardship of the Karl Mason Award rests with PAEP, but anyone may submit a nomination to the association. The award is given to a Pennsylvania person, organization, or project that has “made a significant contribution to the betterment of Pennsylvania's environment, exemplifying Karl Mason's vision.”

Cindy was presented with the award on May 9, at the PAEP’s annual conference.
