CBF, Partners Hold June 22 Rain Barrel Festival, June 29 Paxton Creek Volunteer Day

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation and its partners will hold two special events in June in and around Harrisburg, Dauphin County--

-- June 22: Rain Barrel Festival from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. Come out and see students paint rain barrels that they've been designing at this first-ever Rain Barrel Festival. There will be live music, food, and booths representing various Harrisburg groups. Rain barrels will be for sale for $50, and all proceeds from the rain barrels will fund future rain barrel workshops. Rain barrels help reduce harmful urban runoff pollution and can save you money in watering your garden!

-- June 29: Volunteer Day at the Paxton Creek Nursery. The Paxton Creek Watershed is covered by more than 30 percent impervious surfaces and is in desperate need of more trees and vegetation in order to be healthy. Help us restore this important watershed by coming out to volunteer with CBF and the Paxton Creek Watershed and Education Association to repot trees, remove debris, and set up an irrigation system. Your work is critical to help the Paxton Creek Nursery grow the plants and trees that will restore Paxton Creek. Afterward, stick around for a well-deserved lunch of delicious grilled food!
