Clinton County CleanScapes and its partners will hold the 10th Annual West Branch Susquehanna River Community Tire Removal Project, Woodward Township, Clinton County on July 27. This community event is being sponsored by The Dominion Foundation and the Clinton County Community Foundation. This event offers four different activities that run from low to highly challenging. Pre-registration is requested by July 25, 12 Noon. To register for this event send email to: clintoncountycleanscapes@yahoo.com or call the CleanScapes field office at 570-726-3511. The previous events have attracted 1,139 community members and they removed 26 tons of man-made debris and 2,740 tires from the West Branch Susquehanna River. In total, 4 miles of the water trail have been revived (Queens Run to the City of Lock Haven) and they look forward to completing the section located on the western edge of the Great Island in 2013! If you cannot join us on July 27, we will hold a similar event on September 7. It is anticipated that these events will complete this section and next year CleanScapes will begin work on a new section. The project’s long-term goal is to collect and remove 85 percent of all known tires and man-made debris from the West Branch Susquehanna Rivertrail as it flows through Clinton County.
