DEP Accepting Nominations For Regional Act 220 Water Resource Advisory Committees

Lisa Daniels, Director of DEP’s Bureau of Safe Drinking Water, this week told the DEP Citizens Advisory Council the agency is now accepting nominations for its six regional water resource advisory committees created under Act 220 of 2002.

Daniels said a priority is filling out the committees for the Ohio and Potomac river basins.

The regional committees, as well as the statewide Water Resource Advisory Committee, help DEP with tasks related to updating the State Water Plan and with the development of management plans for critical water resource areas.

Each committee is required to have a balance of industry, local government, water users and other representatives.

DEP is set to begin developing the first five year update to the State Water Plan in 2014.
