The Department of Environmental Protection will display its interactive “DEP at Home” exhibit during Ag Progress Days at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center in Pennsylvania Furnace from August 13 to 15.

DEP at Home is an interactive, educational exhibit, which is experienced by visitors as a modern house, featuring practices and products that promote energy efficiency and sustainable building materials, as well as environmentally friendly and Pennsylvania-produced products.

The three-room exhibit has a bathroom/laundry area, a kitchen and a living room--all showcasing décor, appliances and building materials that help improve energy efficiency, water conservation, radon awareness, air quality and other staples of environmental awareness.

There is also an outdoor space that includes a dog house with green roofing, and a bicycle that children can ride to understand that less effort is required to power energy-efficient light bulbs.

Penn State’s Ag Progress Days is one of the largest outdoor agricultural shows in the East and hosts more than 480 exhibitors and vendors, showcasing innovations in agricultural equipment and related industries. The show features Penn State Extension research and offers educational presentations, guided tours, and interactive fun for the whole family.

Ag Progress Days runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 13. On August 14, it is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on August 15, it will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free. The Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center is located at 2710 West Pine Grove Road, Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa in Centre County.

DEP created the exhibit through a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Energy’s State Energy Program.
