Bucks County Community College President Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt and PECO President and CEO Craig Adams broke ground Monday to celebrate bringing natural gas service to the college’s Newtown Campus.

Prior to the groundbreaking, Bucks and PECO announced that switching to natural gas will help the college save nearly 25 percent on its annual energy bills. The project, expected to be completed in October, includes installing a nearly one mile of natural gas main leading to the college along Swamp Road.

“The college is always looking for ways to make the best use of resources, and this project will do just that,” said Shanblatt. “PECO has been our partner for almost 30 years, demonstrating support for the college in many ways, including scholarships and energy saving initiatives. This is a wonderful example of a continued college corporate partnership.”

This natural gas main extension project supports PECO’s efforts to bring natural gas service into new areas.
