PA Recycling Markets Center: Pennsylvania State University is now accepting applications for five positions related to the PA Recycling Markets Center. Deadline for applications is August 15.

The PA Recycling Markets Center, a new non-profit center housed at Penn State Harrisburg’s campus, is seeking applicants for these positions--

· Recycling Program Manager: Design, develop, implement and manage informational, educational and training programs to enhance existing markets and create new markets for recyclable materials in Pennsylvania.

· Markets Development Manager: Develop and implement a strategy to expand existing markets and create new markets for recyclable materials in Pennsylvania and market the RMC and its programs, services and activities.

· Project Manager: Develop and execute a wide variety of projects undertaken by the RMC and its partner organizations aimed at enhancing the marketability, market value, and use of recyclable materials.

Minimum Qualifications: The RMC Markets Development Manager and Recycling Program Manager positions require a master’s degree and three years of relevant work experience or equivalent. The RMC Project Manager position requires a bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience or equivalent.

PENNTAP Positions: The PA Technical Assistance Program (PENNTAP) is seeking applicants for two Recycling Technical Specialists positions.

Recycling Technical Specialists find and work closely with manufacturing clients and others in the recycling community to modify products and processes to increase the use of recyclable materials in Pennsylvania-made products.

Minimum Qualifications: The PENNTAP Recycling Technical Specialist positions require a master’s degree and three years of relevant work experience or equivalent.

All positions are fixed-term appointments funded through June 30, 2006 with an excellent possibility of re-funding under a multi-year grant from the Department of Environmental Protection.

Chesapeake Bay Stream Buffer Specialists: The Pennsylvania Office of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation is seeking two Stream Buffer Specialists for riparian forest buffer restoration efforts focused in south-central Pennsylvania (likely one based in Lancaster and one in Gettysburg).

These positions are full time for at least a two-year term, with the expectation of on-going work beyond that. The buffer specialists will work in conjunction with Natural Resource Conservation Service staff, county conservation district staff, watershed groups and others to implement streambank fencing and riparian forest buffer restoration projects.

A primary focus of work will be implementing buffer projects via USDA’s Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program. Implementation will involve working with contractors to install livestock crossings, fencing, and tree and shrub plantings.

Candidates should have a bachelor of science degree in an agricultural or biological major with one-to-two years of experience in a related field. A farm background is preferable. Computer literacy is expected. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Educator for PRC: The Pennsylvania Resources Council, a non-profit environmental education organization, is seeking an experienced science educator to present programs in the Dauphin, Lancaster and York county areas.

PRC presents environment and ecology programs on-site in elementary, middle and high schools. Topics include: litter reduction and recycling, greener lifestyles, energy conservation, and watershed awareness. All programs align with the Department of Education standards for Environment and Ecology.

This position is currently part-time, but may become full-time by the end of 2006. Educators must obtain criminal and child abuse clearances. Position reports to Manager of Environmental Education, PRC East (suburban Philadelphia).
