The PA Biomass Energy Association will be hold a series of education tours on biomass energy starting with a tour September 17 of Harman manufacturing in Halifax, Dauphin County, and Energex American, Inc. in Mifflintown, Mifflin County.

This tour will be of interest to homeowners who want to learn more about lowering heating costs and improving air quality in their homes.  There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Space is limited. Transportation will be provided.

The Pennsylvania Biomass Energy Association is pleased to announce the creation of this educational field tour series about biomass energy made possible through the award of a state Department of Environmental Protection Environmental Education Grant, to teach Pennsylvanians about this unique and abundant form of energy.

PBEA will conduct four tours focused on residential heating; small, community scale projects; combined heat and power projects; and biogas energy. The interactive tours will combine first-hand demonstrations with explanation the technologies and best management practices by industry experts. The tours are open to anyone who wants to learn more about biomass energy.

What do residential pellet stoves, combined heat and power generation systems to heat and cool schools, hospitals, and other businesses, on-farm anaerobic digesters, and landfill methane capture systems all have in common? They are all forms of biomass energy!

Each year these technologies save homeowners and businesses thousands of dollars on heating, cooling, and electric costs, support the local economy, and even play a role in restoring the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Field tours highlighting business and community scale projects, as well as anaerobic digesters and biogas projects, are planned in November, February, and April.
