Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful recognized key PennDOT Adopt-A-Highway Coordinators with a certificate recognizing their outstanding and dedicated service to keep our communities clean and beautiful through their support of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful local affiliates during the 2013 Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania.

The certificates were awarded during the PennDOT Adopt-A-Highway Coordinators’ Meeting and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Affiliate Training in State College on August 27 and 28.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful recognized the following Adopt-A-Highway Coordinators: Scott Kovach, Allegheny County, Marilyn Musiowski, Bucks County, Kelli Scalia, Huntingdon County, and Warren Albright, Westmoreland County.

“The Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania is a true collaborative effort at the national, state, regional and local level.  We are grateful for the support of PennDOT, who has provided tremendous support to Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful by utilizing its more than 6,000 Adopt-A-Highway groups to promote the event and distributing supplies to its 67 county maintenance facilities throughout the state,” stated Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

Since the inception of this event in 2004, over 1.4 million volunteers have picked up 68 million pounds of litter and waste, 118,702 miles of road have been cleaned, and 98,000 trees, bulbs, and flowers have been planted.

The Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania is held annually from March 1st to May 31st.
