PA Native Justin Stockdale To Head PA Resources Council Western Office

The Pennsylvania Resources Council announced Friday Justin Stockdale has been named Western Regional Director.  Justin will join the PRC Western Regional Office on December 1 and will take over the Regional Director's reins on January 1, 2014.

Long-time Western Regional Director David Mazza will be retiring at year's end, but will be working closely with Justin Stockdale in December to ensure a smooth transition.

"We are excited to bring Justin into the PRC family.  He brings an extensive knowledge of the waste reduction and recycling business,” said Dee Alwine, President, PRC Board of Directors.  “He also has a keen understanding of non-profit operations and has the ability to build essential stakeholder relationships which will allow PRC to continue our successful programs and solutions in the Pittsburgh area."

“Throughout the past decade, Dave Mazza has done an outstanding job of directing the daily operations of the Western Office by managing staff, developing and deploying programs, securing funding and growing PRC’s environmental presences in the Pittsburgh area,” said Alwine.  “To ensure a smooth transition, Justin will arrive in Pittsburgh in December to work closely with Dave for a month before he assumes the Western Regional Director role on January 1.”

Stockdale, who was born and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, is returning to Pennsylvania after working since 1997 in Colorado and New Mexico in a variety of recycling and waste reduction positions in local government, non-profit organizations and as a consultant.

His most recent position was leading the New Mexico Recycling Coalition in its expansion of recycling opportunities in rural areas of that state.  He won the New Mexico Recycler of the Year award for his work with the Coalition in 2008.

He held a variety of positions in local government and non-profit organizations in New Mexico, including helping to develop and implement a long term recycling strategy for the Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency.  There Justin helped develop a full scale single stream recycling initiative, electronic waste collection programs and the largest municipal composting operation in the state.

In his career he also started his own consulting business-- The Recycled Revival-- focused on municipal waste diversion and solid waste issues for communities across New Mexico.

Justin will be relocating to the Pittsburgh area with his wife and two young daughters.  The Pittsburgh Office of PRC is located at 64 S. 14th St, Pittsburgh, PA 15203 and can be contacted by calling 412-488-7490.
