Brian Byrnes has been named Executive Director of the Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds Association.  Mr. Byrnes replaces Anne Murphy, who stepped down after eleven years, a time during which CRC’s programs expanded greatly.

CRC works with municipalities, individuals, nonprofits, and corporations to conserve and restore the natural resources of the Chester, Ridley, and Crum Creek watersheds in Delaware and Chester Counties. 

Mr. Byrnes has extensive background in the environmental conservation field from prior positions with Audubon Pennsylvania and Brandywine Conservancy.  Most recently, he directed the Important Bird Areas program for Audubon in southeastern Pennsylvania, improving conservation planning and implementation at the most critical sites in the region.

“I am honored to become Executive Director of the Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds Association, which has a long history of improving water and habitat quality in our region,” said Mr. Byrnes.  “I look forward to working with the board and CRC’s many partners, members, and volunteers to build upon past successes and forge new relationships that will enable us to have a positive impact on the water and people of the Chester, Ridley, and Crum Creek watersheds.”

Mr. Byrnes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Swarthmore College and a Master of Environmental Studies degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  A lifelong Delaware County resident and a graduate of Springfield High School, he currently resides in Concord Township.

“Though we are sad to see Anne leave after such a tremendous tenure leading CRC, we are excited and confident that Brian will lead our organization and membership into its next chapter, delivering on the ambitious goals in our new strategic plan,” said CRC President Tom Brooks.
