USDA Reports No-Till, Conservation Farming Practices Cover 83.4% Of PA Farmland

USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Pennsylvania Field Office, reported Thursday 83.4 percent of Pennsylvania’s major crop acreage is now covered by no-till and conservation practices. In 2013, conventional tillage was used on 16.6 percent of the major crop acreage in Pennsylvania, down from the 19.0 percent recorded in 2012. No-till was practiced on 61.9 percent of the major crop acreage, and other conservation tillage practices were used on the remaining 21.5 percent. The complete report is available online. |
