Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds Association and CRC’s municipal stormwater partnership will hold a special program on February 23 called “Protecting Our Water Resources and Environment through Reduced Chemical Use” presented by Integrated Pest Management (IPM) expert Mike Leventry.

The program will be held at Penn State’s Brandywine campus starting at 2:00 p.m. in the  Tomezsko Building Auditorium, 25 Yearsley Mill Road, Media, Delaware County.

Mike has a B.S. from the University of Delaware with a concentration in IPM and has 10 years experience in the IPM field at the University, Longwood Gardens, and currently as Plant Healthcare Coordinator with the Preservation Tree Company.

His talk will cover how homeowners and property managers can reduce pests to tolerable levels with reduced or eliminated use of chemicals through Integrated Pest Management.

Topics will include physical controls, cultural practices, conservation of naturally occurring predators, and use of environmentally friendly products and strategies.  Pests to be covered include invasive plants, insects, algae, and troublesome mammals.

The program is free and open to the public, but advance registration is recommended due to limited space.

Online registration is available or contact the CRC office at 610-359-1440 or send email to: info@crcwatersheds.org to reserve a spot.
