Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Announces Blair County Affiliate Merger

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Friday announced their longtime affiliate PA CleanWays of Blair County has affiliated with Keep America Beautiful to become Keep Blair County Beautiful.

The office is now housed with the Intermunicipal Relations Committee, a council of governments consisting of the City of Altoona, Logan Township, Tyrone Borough and Hollidaysburg Borough.

“We are looking forward to our affiliation with the national organization and believe it will open new doors of opportunity both programmatically and from a networking perspective.  We’re especially eager to work with the new leadership at Keep America Beautiful, while continuing our cooperative ventures with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and the exceptional group of local volunteers,” Frederick said.  “We are especially grateful and want to acknowledge the hard work done by PA CleanWays of Blair County long-time president Mike Union.”

“The transition of the local affiliate to now being a program of the Intermunicipal Relations Committee will be key to the sustainability of our shared mission in Blair County.  With IRC’s leadership, and their decision to directly affiliate with Keep America Beautiful, Keep Blair County Beautiful will now be able to leverage all the tools, resources and program opportunities KAB has to offer for the benefit of Blair County,” said Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. “The original coordinators and volunteers will remain involved at the program level. We are grateful for the cooperation between all parties involved.”

John Frederick, IRC Executive Director will be the Affiliate Coordinator. He can be reached at 814-942-7472 or send email to:  jfrederick@ircenvironment.org. The IRC is located at Altoona City Hall, 1301 - 12th Street in Altoona.
