New Video From PUC Responds To Consumer Outrage Over Electricity Price Spikes
|
The Public Utility Commission this week released a new video on shopping for electric suppliers describing the difference between fixed and variable rate electric rates in consumer contracts. The video responds to recent consumer outrage over electricity prices spikes during recent cold winter weather. PUC chairman Robert Powelson told the House Consumer Affairs Committee this week his agency has received about 9,000 consumer complaints concerning variable rates. He said variable rate electric plans work well for some customers and should not be abandoned, but variable rates are not ideal for consumers with a low risk tolerance. Click Here to watch the video.
