Armstrong County Hosts Two Great American Cleanup Of PA Events

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful thanks volunteers from Kiski Township, Roaring Run Watershed, Apollo Ridge School District (as part of their Global Day of Service project), and local residents who removed 3,460 pounds of trash and 260 tires from Dunmire Road and Foster Road in Kiski Township, Armstrong County on April 5th and 6th.

Project funding was provided by the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds. The funding also provides for enforcement measures to be implemented within the Kiski-Conemaugh Basin.

“Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful understands that eliminating illegal dumping requires more than just cleanups, but also opportunities for proper disposal, education, beautification, stewardship, and enforcement,” said Shannon Reiter, President of Keep PA Beautiful. “Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful has developed an enforcement support program that includes education, training, surveillance resources and technical assistance for municipal and county officials in an effort to boost prosecutions of illegal dumping and we’re excited about implementing it in the Kiski-Conemaugh Basin.”
