High Construction Company Wins EPA Energy Star Building Competition
|
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Thursday announced High Construction Company Building 105 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, was one of 15 winners of the Energy Star National Building Competition. Together, competitors in this year’s National Building Competition saved more than $20 million and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 130,000 metric tons—equal to the annual electricity use of nearly 18,000 homes. Many organizations used the competition to involve people—such as staff and students—who might not ordinarily be engaged in such efforts. The High Construction building had a 35.3 percent reduction in energy use resulting in a $32,960 savings and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 221 tons.
