Look to PENNSERVE Grants to Fund Local Volunteer Programs
|
Looking to fund volunteer efforts to fulfill community needs in the environment, education, homeland security and public safety? PENNSERVE has a number of grant programs available. September 27 grant applications are due to PENNSERVE for a challenge grant program for nonprofits that encourages baby boomer volunteers. November 1 PENNSERVE AmeriCorps grant applications are due. Applicants should include activities that build capacity to address community needs in the areas of education, environment, homeland security, public safety and other unmet human service needs. Priority will be given to agencies that focus on education and mentoring. Planning/capacity building grants will fund program development rather than actual programs, but will help prepare organizations to compete for AmeriCorps operating grants that will fund their proposed program.
