More Than 200 Runners Participate In Friends Of Wissahickon’s Forbidden 10K Race

Of the 200 runners who participated in the Friends of the Wissahickon's Forbidden 10K race on May 18 in Mongtomery and Philadelphia counties.  The winner was 25-year-old Michael Deasey, of Wynnewood, Pa. with a winning time of 35 minutes, 10 seconds.

The race was part of FOW’s 90th anniversary celebration which will take place throughout the year. Funds raised from the race will assist in the continued restoration and preservation of the historic Valley Green Inn and Wissahickon Park.

Bryn Mawr Racing Co. did the chip timing for the race.

Race sponsors included Indigo Schuy, Larry Weaner Landscape Associates, Ryan Painting, C.E. Hopkins Roofing, Wissahickon Tree and Landscape Services, Charles Uniatowski Photography, Elfant Wissahickon, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Devilfish Ink, Weaver’s Way, Valley Green Inn and Heather Marley Design.

Working with Keep Philadelphia Beautiful, Clear Channel and 104.5 FM,  over 50 volunteers participated in a post-race clean-up along the race course.
