House Committee To Consider Public-Private Partnerships For Water, Sewage June 17

The House State Government Committee is scheduled to consider House Bill 2239 (Evankovich -R-Armstrong) which provides for public-private partnerships related to water and sewage treatment services and school construction on June 17.

Public-private partnerships (P3s) provide an option for a local government, school districts or public authority to make agreements with private companies to provide public services--  in this case water and sewage treatment services and school construction-- where the private party assumes substantial financial, technical and operational risk.

The Commonwealth has already authorized public-private partnerships for transportation projects.

A sponsor summary is available.

The meeting will be in Room 205 of the Ryan Building and will start at 9:00.

Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) serves as Majority Chair and Rep. Mark Cohen (D-Philadelphia) serves as Minority Chair.
