Governor’s Council Seeks Candidates for Game Commission Director

The Governor’s Advisory Council for Hunting, Fishing and Conservation is looking for a qualified candidate to serve on the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s board of directors representing District Six, comprised of Snyder, Mifflin, Juniata, Franklin, Perry, Cumberland, Adams, Dauphin, York, Lebanon and Lancaster counties.

Stephen L. Mohr of Bainbridge, Lancaster County, currently represents District Six; his term expires December 9.

Commissioners serve without compensation, but do receive travel reimbursement. The length of term is eight years and commissioners are not eligible for reappointment.

Candidates will first interview with the Game and Wildlife Subcommittee of the advisory council and will be rated not only on responses, but also on professional and volunteer experience with wildlife conservation, youth recruitment and hunter retention, land conservation and other similar activities. The Governor will select the final candidate. His nominee must be confirmed by the Senate.

Applications will be accepted until October 28.
