Keep PA Beautiful Affiliates Recycle Over 900,000 Pounds Of Electronics In 2014

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s affiliate network provided Pennsylvania residents with disposal options for hard-to-dispose items that consisted of one-day events and permanent drop-off locations.

During 2014, nearly 30,000 tires, 917,407 pounds of electronics, over 500 appliances, and 48,455 pounds of household hazardous waste was properly disposed thanks to county-based Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful affiliates across the Commonwealth.

“Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and our affiliate network work hard to provide affordable, convenient waste disposal and recycling options for all residents of Pennsylvania. Permanent convenient centers and special collections are a necessity when it comes to managing waste properly, otherwise items can be dumped illegally which then becomes a huge financial burden on the local government and community as a whole,” said Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful works to increase the availability of convenient, affordable disposal for sometimes hard to dispose of or recycle items such as tires, household hazardous waste, pharmaceuticals, and appliances.

KPB’s affiliate network often partners with local solid waste and recycling offices to identify local disposal and recycling needs and implement special collections and other programs to fill the gap.
