Agriculture, Energy Industries Collaborate On PA Pipeline Development

The Keystone Energy Forum, in partnership with PennAg Industries Association & the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania held its fourth annual “Agricultural Forum” Thursday focusing on pipeline development and its interaction with Pennsylvania's agricultural community.

The 2015 forum focused on the collaboration between the agriculture and energy industries as they work in a partnership to co-exist and grow in Pennsylvania.

“Collaboration and open dialogue between agriculture and energy industries on pipeline and related infrastructure development helps each industry better understand the issues surrounding these topics as we enter into this phase of natural gas development in Pennsylvania," said Bill Stewart, Director of the Keystone Energy Forum. "Over the past four years, forums, like the one held today at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, have allowed for that open discussion, with public input, to take place."

The Keystone Energy Forum took place in Harrisburg in conjunction with the 2015 Pennsylvania Farm Show. The forum included presentations by leading agriculture and energy officials focusing on land and agricultural issues surrounding pipeline development occurring across Pennsylvania and how both industries can partner together into the future.

“Partnering with agriculture interests across Pennsylvania is an important priority for our company," said Cindy Ivey, Public Outreach Director with Williams. "Presenting at this forum, focused on pipeline development, allows our industry to directly and openly communicate with agriculture interests and individual farmers located all over the Commonwealth."

Today's program is part of an ongoing series of forums hosted by the Keystone Energy Forum in concert with coalition groups from across Pennsylvania. From 2011 to present, the Keystone Energy Forum hosted educational forums on Housing, Outdoor Life , Economic Development, Pennsylvania's Energy Portfolio and Pipelines.

"The Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania sees collaboration on issues, whether they are agriculture or energy related, as a critical component for laying the groundwork to work together. Collaboration on pipeline development and the land issues surrounding it is extremely important so that our agriculture interests are better understood. Today's forum helped continue that collaboration and communication," concluded Alan Novak, Executive Director of the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania.

The Keystone Energy Forum is focused on educating the public on energy production in Pennsylvania. It serves as a resource for making local opinions count. The forum is available to Pennsylvanians as a venue to help create balanced energy policies.
