2006 EPA Environmental Education Grants Applications Due November 23
|
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is soliciting grant proposals for its 2006 Environmental Education Grant Program. Proposals are due November 23. EPA expects to award 150 grants subject to the availability of funds and the quality of applications received. Most grants will be in the $10,000 to $15,000 range. Any local education agency, college or university, state education or environmental agency, not-for-profit organization or noncommercial educational broadcasting entity may submit a proposal. Projects should be designed to promote environmental stewardship and help develop aware and responsible students, teachers, and citizens. This grant program provides financial support for projects which design, demonstrate, or disseminate environmental education practices, methods, or techniques. EPA may also fund activities such as creating a nature trail or building a bird watching station as long as these items are an integral part of the environmental education project, and the cost is a relatively small percentage of the total amount of federal funds requested.
