The Department of Environmental Protection late Friday announced it would hold a webinar for media on March 9 starting at 10:30 on changes it will propose in a final version of the Chapter 78 drilling regulations.

Acting DEP Secretary John Quigley and Deputy Secretary for Oil and Gas Operations Scott Perry will discuss the changes to the regulations.

DEP is expected to release the text of the proposed changes on March 9.  The agency’s Oil and Gas Technical Advisory Committee meets on March 20 to review the regulations.  All the existing members of the Committee are being replaced with new members by the Wolf Administration which will also add several ad hoc members.

In proposing the original Chapter 78 regulations in late 2013 and early 2014, DEP held 9 public hearings around the state, two webinars and had a 90 day public comment period.
