The following bills of interest saw action this week in the House and Senate-- House Wind Power Generation: House Bill 188 (Curt-R-Erie) allowing wind power generation systems on preserved farmland was passed by the House and now goes to the Senate for consideration. Natural Gas Competition: House Bill 57 (Payne-R-Dauphin) relating to improving natural gas retail competition by providing a more frequent mechanism for truing up natural gas costs was removed from the Table, referred into and out of the House Appropriations Committee and was passed by the House. The bill now goes to the Senate for action. A summary and House Fiscal Note are available Earth Day Resolution: House Resolution 133 (Murt-R-Montgomery) Resolution encouraging all residents of the Commonwealth to observe Earth Day on April 22 (sponsor summary) was removed from the Uncontested Calendar and referred to the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. Senate Marcellus Health Panel: Senate Bill 375 (Scarnati-R-Jefferson) establishing a Health Advisory Panel on Shale Gas Extraction (sponsor summary) was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Developing Preserved Farmland: Senate Bill 201 (Schwank-D-Berks) allowing the the location of agriculture- related business on preserved farmland (sponsor summary) was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. |
