Dominion Accepting Applications For Higher Education Grants

Educators and faculty at colleges in communities served by Dominion Resources are invited to apply for higher educational grants to fund energy, environment and workforce development programs.  Applications are due May 15 for the 2015-2016 school year.

"Encouraging and investing in our youth, especially through educational programs that help improve the environment, advance energy technologies and promote the workforce of the future is an essential part of the Dominion Foundation's mission," said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Foundation.

The grants are given by the Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources, the parent company of Dominion Virginia/North Carolina Power, Dominion East Ohio, Dominion Hope, Dominion Carolina Gas Transmission and Millstone Power Station in Connecticut.

Eligible areas in Pennsylvania include: the counties of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Blair, Bucks, Butler, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Crawford, Dauphin, Elk, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lawrence, Mercer, McKean, Potter, Tioga, Venango, Washington and Westmoreland.

The Higher Educational Partnership grants are for programs in business, skilled craft, energy, engineering, environmental and technical studies and for student-led conservation programs in colleges, community colleges and post-secondary training schools.

Grants up to $50,000 each will be awarded for exceptional programs, based in part on having immediate benefits for students, the campus and the community.
