NRCS Pennsylvania State Technical Committee Meeting April 15

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service will host the Pennsylvania State Technical Committee meeting on April 15.

More than a dozen Pennsylvania federal, state and local agencies make up the committee, which provides recommendations to NRCS on the implementation of the natural resources conservation provisions of the Farm Bill.

Meetings are held quarterly to discuss the conservation of soil, water, air, plants, wetlands, wildlife and agriculture. Guest speakers Jennifer Reed-Harry of PennAg Industries Assoc. and Jim Harbach of Schrack Farms Resources LP, will discuss nutrient management and soil health and updates on fiscal year 2015 Farm Bill programs will be provided.

“The State Technical Committee meetings provide an opportunity for people and conservation groups across the state to collaborate on positive solutions,” says Denise Coleman, NRCS State Conservationist. “Many of the attendees are partners in mutual projects, programs and outreach efforts. The meetings also serve as a platform for sharing experiences to better serve Pennsylvania’s natural resource needs.”
