Senate Environmental Committee Sets Hearings On Oil Train Safety, Anthracite Mining

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee has scheduled hearings on several environmental issues--

-- June 9: Joint hearing with the Senate Transportation Committee on the safe transportation of crude oil by railroad.  PUC Hearing Room 1, Keystone Building. 9:00.

-- June 11: Hearing on anthracite coal issues.  Pottsville City Council Chambers, Pottsville. 11:00.

The Committee had already scheduled these two other hearings--

-- June 1: Joint hearing with the Senate Finance Committee on natural gas severance tax proposals and their impact on Pennsylvania.  Hearing Room 1, North Office Building. 10:30.

-- June 2: Confirmation hearing for Acting DEP Secretary John Quigley.  Hearing Room 1, North Office Building. 9:30.

Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming) serves as Majority Chair of the Committee and Sen. John Yudichak (D-Luzerne) serves as Minority Chair.
