Students 13 to 15 can now register for the Goddard Leadership Legacy Institute set for July 12-17 at the Ironmaster’s Mansion at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Adams County.

Run by the Central PA Conservancy, the Institute is a weeklong overnight camp that brings together the expertise from our region to help students learn about the natural environment in the South Mountain region and ways to protect it by taking on leadership roles through volunteer service and student action in their own communities.

The program is packed with games, investigative studies, guest speakers, and field trips. Receiving initial funding from DCNR and the South Mountain Partnership, the GLLI is also supported by a number of private foundations and donors.

In its third year, it is staffed by the CPC Executive Director, the Park Manager, two exceptional, area middle school science teachers, and four college-age counselors. We have also planned for several local experts to serve as guest speakers.

There are 2 full scholarships and up to 10 partial scholarships being offered for the camp, and the deadline is June 1.  The cost for this residential camp is $450.
