The Department of Environmental Protection will host a public hearing about a proposed natural gas power plant in the Borough of Jessup, Lackawanna County, from 6-9 p.m. on September 2 at Valley View High School, 1 Columbus Drive, Archbald, PA.

The purpose of the hearing will be to take testimony regarding an application by Lackawanna Energy Center, LLC of Chicago, for an air quality plan approval to construct and operate a 1,500-megawatt natural gas fired power plant.

The Department received the original plan approval application from Lackawanna Energy Center, LLC on June 11, 2014. A revised application was later submitted on November 3, 2014.

Concerned citizens may also submit written testimony by 4 p.m. on September 16. Those comments can be addressed to Mark Wejkszner, Air Quality Program Manager, DEP Northeast Regional Office, 2 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18711.

A notice of the public hearing was published in the Scranton Times newspaper and the PA Bulletin on Saturday, August 1, 2015.
