Residents and visitors to the Upper Delaware River region have a new online educational resource-- Clear Choices, Clean Water: My Delaware River--  to learn more about water conservation and to pledge to take action to protect our lakes, rivers, and streams from pollution.

This new website is an easy-to-use interactive resource with suggestions everyone can implement to conserve water.

Both homeowners and renters can learn how to design and plant a rain garden; small changes to make around the home to reduce water usage and save money on utility bills; alternatives to lawn fertilizers that contribute to algae growth; how to find volunteer opportunities throughout the region; and much more.

Website visitors have the opportunity to take a water conservation pledge and “put themselves on the map” to see the impact their actions are having on nearby rivers and streams, and see what actions their neighbors are taking to protect clean water.

“We all rely on the clean waters of the Upper Delaware for our clean drinking water and for the wonderful quality of life and strong economy we enjoy in this region,” said Sue Currier, Executive Director of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy. “We’re excited to be part of this initiative to help individuals learn more about everyday actions they can take to make a big difference for the future of our lands and waters.”

“Clear Choices, Clean Water: My Delaware River” is a cooperative effort among the Delaware Highlands Conservancy; The Nature Conservancy; Wildlands Conservancy; Pocono Heritage Land Trust; and the Brodhead Watershed Association.

It is supported by funding from the William Penn Foundation and by the Community Conservation Partnerships Program Environmental Stewardship Fund under the administration of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation administered through the PA Environmental Council’s Pocono Forest & Waters Conservation Landscape Conservation Assistance Program.
