PUC Releases Winter Reliability Reports From Natural Gas Distribution Companies

The Public Utility Commission Thursday released 2015 Winter Reliability Overview reports from the state’s major natural gas distribution companies along with a related Readiness Reports from the regional electric transmission organization, PJM Interconnection, and the Energy Association of Pennsylvania.

The reports provide insights regarding preparations for conditions that may affect service reliability, supply and prices and for the winter months – including topics such as system readiness, employee safety/readiness, communications outreach, gas supply and planning, natural gas demand for electric generators and an analysis of Polar Vortex issues.

“A key part of the Commission’s responsibility to safeguard utility service involves preparation for high-demand and high-stress times,” said PUC Chairman Gladys M. Brown. “These reports offer insights into the industry plans to ensure safe and reliable utility service during the coming winter months.”
