Help Wanted: Department Of Environmental Protection, Various Positions

The Department of Environmental Protection recently announced numerous vacancies throughout the Commonwealth.   Opportunities include:   

-- Air Quality Engineering Specialist - Test Announcement 2015-143: This is professional environmental engineering work in the field of air quality.  Duties include protecting the environment, public health, and safety by performing a variety of journey-level air quality engineering work assignments, such as conducting field studies and surveys including stack testing, ambient air monitoring, risk assessment, and emissions monitoring, and inspecting the operation and maintenance of facilities and recommending action on permit applications. Work is performed in a regional air quality program or in the central office in Harrisburg. Positions are located in Crawford and Dauphin counties

-- Environmental Engineer - Test Announcement 2015-138: This is professional and advanced professional environmental engineering positions that work in an environmental regulatory, resource management, conservation, or construction program area. Duties may include performing environmental engineering functions such as wastewater treatment; sanitary sewer collection and conveyance; solid waste treatment, processing, storage, and disposal; water distribution, filtration, storage, and pumping; and air pollution control. Positions are located in Allegheny, Dauphin, Luzerne, and Montgomery counties.      

-- Radiation Health Physicist and Radiation Protection Program Supervisor - Test Announcement 2015-131: These job titles perform at different responsibility levels with duties that include monitoring and controlling radiological health hazards to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and reviewing applications for x-ray registration, radioactive material licenses, accelerator licenses, or radon testing/mitigation/laboratory certifications. Positions are located in Allegheny and Dauphin counties.
