NRCS State Technical Committee Meeting Jan. 21 In Harrisburg

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service will host the Pennsylvania State Technical Committee meeting on January 21 at the USDA State Office in Harrisburg, PA.

More than a dozen Pennsylvania federal, state and local agencies make up the committee, which provides recommendations to NRCS on the implementation of the natural resources conservation provisions of the Farm Bill.

“State Technical Committee meetings provide an opportunity for people and conservation groups across the state to share experiences and collaborate on positive solutions to better serve Pennsylvania’s natural resource needs,” says Denise Coleman, NRCS State Conservationist.

Meetings are held quarterly to discuss the conservation of soil, water, air, plants, wetlands, wildlife and agriculture.

January’s meeting will include updates on fiscal year 2016 Farm Bill programs, information on NRCS’s process for screening and ranking applications, as well as a presentation on the Conservation Client Gateway, a new web application for landowners and land managers.

The public is invited to attend the meeting which will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the USDA State Office Conference Room at 359 East Park Drive, Harrisburg. To attend via teleconference, call 1-888-844-9904 with access code 6941559.
