DCNR Launches New Web-Based Resources For Land & Water Conservation Fund

DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation has created new web-based resources that provide a “one-stop shop” for information about the Land and Water Conservation Fund State Assistance Program.

The fund is a federal funding source provided by the National Park Service to assist states with the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities.

Since 1965, DCNR has awarded more than $164 million in LWCF grants to Pennsylvania communities in more than 1,500 unique projects.

The website includes a history of the program, grant related documents, and other resources showcasing the positive impact that the Land and Water Conservation Fund has made in Pennsylvania.

If your community received LWCF funds for one or more of your parks, park lands are to be permanently protected for the benefit of the public.

DCNR is responsible for completing post on-site inspections every five years on all LWCF funded projects. Information also is provided on post-completion responsibilities.

For more information, visit DCNR’s Land and Water Conservation Fund webpage to learn about these new resources and about the significant role this program has played in helping Pennsylvania establish one of the finest state and local park systems in the nation.
