The Mid-Atlantic Integrated Assessment partnership issued a new publication—An Introduction to Mid-Atlantic Seasonal Pools this week it hopes will promote a better understanding of vernal pools.

Seasonal pools, or vernal ponds, provide important ecological functions in the Mid-Atlantic region. The booklet serves as an introduction to their functions and provides tools for exploring them.

The Mid-Atlantic Integrated Assessment is a partnership of federal, state and local governments, academic institutions and nonprofit groups conducting research, monitoring and assessments throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
