The legacy of America’s first African American forester, Ralph Elwood Brock, will be celebrated at the annual Spring Black History Achievement Awards Banquet in Coraopolis, Allegheny County on April 4.

Brock, from Schuylkill County, was among the first class of six foresters to graduate in 1906 from the former Pennsylvania State Forest Academy in Mont Alto, now Penn State Mont Alto in Franklin County.

His accomplishments and “Centennial Legacy” will also be celebrated as part of the one-day environmental conference.

The celebration is hosted by the Pastor’s Wives of the Churches of God in Christ, Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. The conference will be held on April 4 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
