April 30 Tree Planting On Old Mine Site In Weiser State Forest Columbia County

The PA Environmental Council will hold a tree planting on an old mining site in the Weiser State Forest in Columbia County on April 30.

Though they are closed now, decades old mine sites located in the Weiser State Forest near Aristes remain nearly barren, and nearby waterways are so toxic that nothing can survive in them, including fish and insects.

Trees planted in strategic areas can create habitat for native plants and animals and help restore water quality.

Participants should meet at the State Forest Office, 16 Weiser Lane, in Aristes at 8:30 a.m.
