Philadelphia Urban Sustainability Forum January 19

The Academy of Natural Sciences is hosting an Urban Sustainability Forum in Philadelphia on January 19 that will focus on the issues of high energy costs, traffic congestion, fractured communities, pollution and sprawl in and around Philadelphia.

The Forum, part of a series that will run through June, will include a special presentation by Jaime Lerner, former Mayor of the “Worlds Most Sustainable City” -- Curitiba, Brazil.

The program is open to the public and will run from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm and will be held at The Academy of Natural Sciences auditorium. 1900 Ben Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia.

The forums are being sponsored by the Delaware Valley Green Building Council, The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, Pennsylvania Resource Council and the Department of Environmental Protection.

The series is made possible, in part, by funding provided by the Richard Lounsbery Foundation and the Environmental Associates of The Academy of Natural Sciences.
