Capital Region Water is hosting three Community Greening Parties on July 26, 30 and August 2 in Harrisburg to provide area residents with information on water issues and community greening.

The parties will be held--

-- July 26: Cloverly Heights park, 18th & Pemberton Streets from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m, with free food, music, family activities, and prizes;

-- July 30: Heart of the Community Garden, 1418 Derry Street from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of Fountain Gate Church’s 14th Annual Community Day; and

-- August 2: Camp Curtin YMCA, 2135 North 6th Street from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. as part of Camp Curtin YMCA’s National Night Out Block Party

In addition to information on water quality, other stations will provide opportunity for participants to give input on community greening concepts and preferred community engagement programs.

These parties support Capital Region Water’s City Beautiful H2O Community Greening Program to improve local water quality and reduce combined sewer overflows while providing additional benefits to the community.

Capital Region Water is seeking significant engagement from the Harrisburg community to drive this program which is required under a federal consent decree and expected to cost over $100 million over the next twenty years.

“This is our community’s plan. Your plan for today and for future generations,” said CEO Shannon Williams. “We want you to tell us what you need in your neighborhood. Our job is to see how we can meet those needs through community greening projects.”
