CFA To Open Small Water & Sewer Funding Program August 1

The Commonwealth Financing Authority will begin accepting applications for a new Small Water and Sewer System Funding Program August 1.  The deadline for applications is October 31.

$22 million is available to fund projects involving the construction, improvement, expansion, repair or rehabilitation of a water supply or sanitary sewer system which is owned and maintained by a municipality or municipal authority.

An eligible project also includes consolidation or regionalization of two or more water supply systems or sanitary systems which are managed or operated as an integrated system regardless of whether the system is physically connected.

Projects which have a total project cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000 are eligible. A 15 percent cash match of the total project cost is required.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to get an endorsement of their project from their House and Senate members because the process for selecting projects for funding is very political.
