DEP OKs Turnpike Widening Project In Chester, Montgomery Counties

The Department of Environmental Protection Friday announced the approval of the PA Turnpike Commission’s Total Reconstruction and Widening Project for miles 320-326 in Tredyffrin and Upper Merion townships, Chester and Montgomery counties.

The project proposes reconstruction and widening of an existing four-lane highway to a six lane highway for the six mile section.

The project also includes the replacement of two overhead bridges, seven mainline bridges, three arch culverts, crossing pipes, noise barriers, retaining walls, stormwater management (SWM) facilities, and storm pipe systems throughout the project area.

This application has been thoroughly reviewed and based on the submitted information, has been found to meet and satisfactorily address all necessary requirements for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Construction Permitting Program.

“After the review of the permit application by Southeast Regional Office and Chester County Conservation District staff, we are confident this work can proceed safely and with careful regard for the environment and the community,” said Southeast Regional Director Cosmo Servidio.

The PA Turnpike Commission has committed to keep the public informed of construction news. Please refer to the Commission’s project webpage for more information.
