The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the August 27 PA Bulletin (page 5611) that it intends to issue a state Section 401 Water Quality Certification for the PennEast Pipeline Project running through Bucks, Carbon, Luzerne and Northampton counties.

The proposed projects is a 77.4 mile long, 36-inch natural gas pipeline which starts in Dallas, Luzerne County, through the Allentown area and would end in Trenton, New Jersey.

DEP originally proposed a Section 401 Certification for this pipeline project in May of this year.

DEP is accepting public comment on the proposed certification until September 26.
