Volunteers Wanted: Lake Erie International Coastal Cleanup Sept. 17
Photo

Volunteers are needed for this year’s PA Lake Erie International Coastal Cleanup to be held on September 17 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at a variety of locations along the Lake.

Last year over 1,700 volunteers picked up 6,853 pounds of trash along the 67.5 miles of Lake Erie shoreline and waterways within Erie County.   Among the most unusual items found were a vehicle drive shaft and a toilet tank along Elk and Walnut Creeks.

DEP’s Coastal Resources Management Program has been the main sponsor of the PA Lake Erie International Coastal Cleanup since 2003. Since then, the cleanup has removed 121,886 pounds of trash from the Lake Erie shoreline and watershed tributaries.

For more information on this year’s cleanup, visit the PA Lake Erie International Coastal Cleanup webpage.  Questions should be directed to Jake Moore of DEP’s Coastal Resources Management Program at 814-217-9634 or send email to: jacmoore@pa.gov.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful coordinates the International Coastal Cleanup Program generally throughout the Commonwealth.  Sign up now for cleanups and receives free gloves and bags, as long as supplies last.  Click Here for more information.
