Educators from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation-PA will involve 20 groups of students grades 6 through 12 and one college group from 12 Pennsylvania counties this Fall in exploring local waterways through the Susquehanna Watershed Education Program.

SWEP, one of CBF-PA’s 15 field education programs, has been providing hands-on experiential learning programs in Pennsylvania for over 25 years.

Students will learn about the importance of water quality, how stream systems work, and conducting hands-on experiments that engage and excite a student’s sense of exploration.

Students will also have the opportunity to get out on the water as well to paddle canoes.

The schools involved include:

— Adams County: Bendersville Elementary, Biglerville High School, Gettysburg High School;

— Bedford County: Bedford High Envirothon;

— Centre County: State College High School;

— Cumberland County: Dickinson College, East Pennsboro High School;

— Dauphin County: Halifax Middle School, Lower Dauphin Middle School, Marshall Science Academy; Middletown Middle School, SciTech High School;

— Franklin County: Career Magnet School;

— Lancaster County: John Reynolds Middle School;

— Lycoming County: Hughesville High Envirothon;

— Northampton County: Pen Argyl High School;

— Snyder County: Selinsgrove High School;

— Union County: Mifflinburg Future Farmers Of America; and

— York County: Crossroads Middle School, Eastern York High School.
