Chesapeake Bay Strategy Hearing Oct. 18 By Senate Environmental & Ag Committees

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee have scheduled a joint hearing on October 18 on Pennsylvania’s strategy for meeting Chesapeake Bay Watershed cleanup requirements. The Committees are specifically interested in opinions on Pennsylvania’s Chesapeake Bay Restoration Strategy and any potential funding sources to meet future mandates. Those expected to testify include: Russell Redding, Secretary of Agriculture; Patrick McDonnell, Acting DEP Secretary, Ann Swanson, Executive Director, and Marel King, PA Director, Chesapeake Bay Commission; Harry Campbell, Chesapeake Bay Foundation-PA; Christian Herr, Penn Ag Industries; Joel Rotz, PA Farm Bureau, Brenda Shambaugh, PA Association of Conservation Districts; Richard Roush, Dean, Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences; John Brosious, PA Municipal Authorities Association; and Michael McCloskey, Coalition for Affordable Bay Solutions. The hearing will be in Hearing Room 1 of the North Office Building starting at 9:30 a.m. Sen.
