Gail Farmer has joined the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association as Executive Director beginning on November 14.  She was chosen after a regional search and selection process.

“We are very pleased to announce Gail’s hiring,” said Richard C. Collier Jr., WVWA Board Chair.  “Gail brings solid leadership in team development, process improvement and operational strategy to WVWA and has a deep sense of commitment to the local conservation community. Her background in environmental education paired with her passion for protecting local resources will be an asset for WVWA’s next steps.”

Gail has spent the last ten years in leadership positions at environmental nonprofits, most recently serving as Director of Education at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education.

Gail also held positions as Director of Programs at the PA Institute for Conservation Education, and as a Research Biologist and Education Specialist with Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association and Audubon California.

A field biologist by training, Gail received her M.S. in ecology from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Her family lives in the Wissahickon watershed, frequently enjoying the Green Ribbon Trail in Flourtown.  She enjoys birding, hiking, and is looking forward to exploring more parts of the watershed with her husband and two sons.

“As a local resident, I’m thrilled to join WVWA and give back to my community. WVWA has such a strong history with incredible achievements in land protection and stewardship, and I’m excited to be a part of its future,” Gail said.
