Penn State Extension Webinars: Natural Gas Power Generation; Shale Fluids Trends
|
|
Penn State Extension will host a webinar on December 15 on Natural Gas Power Generation - Reliability, Value and Market Coordination from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and a second webinar January 19 on Shale Energy Fluids Management Trends. The December 15 webinar will feature Matt Tripoli, PE, Senior Manager of Development, and Greg Samilo, Manager of Development, IMG Midstream will discuss power generation in this month’s webinar. "The shale gas revolution has led to an abundance of low-cost natural gas for end-users throughout the United States,” states Samilo. “In particular, we have seen a dramatic increase in gas-fired generation connecting to the electric grid throughout Mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States. With a shift of more power generation relying natural gas and natural gas pipelines, physical gas and electric markets require more coordination to ensure both operate effectively to meet the needs of end users.” The presenters will also cover the power market overview and changes to generation fleet, coordinating the gas/electric markets in PJM, centralized vs. localized/distributed generation model, and opportunities and benefits of a distributed generation model using natural gas. The January 19 webinar will feature David Yoxtheimer, P.G., Extension Associate, Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research, will discuss the most recent in trends in fluid management options. While free, registrations for the educational webinars are necessary. All can go to the Penn State Extension Natural Gas Events webpage to register and to find out more information for each upcoming webinar.
