House Speaker Turzai Names Republican, Democrat Committee Chairs For New Session

Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) Thursday announced the appointments of both Republican and Democratic committee chairs for the 2017-18 legislative session.

Rep. Mike Carroll (D-Luzerne) will replace Rep. Greg Vitali (D-Delaware) as Minority Chair of the House Environmental Resources Committee.

The House Gaming Oversight, Labor and Industry, Tourism and Recreation Development and Urban Affairs Committees have new Majority and Minority Chairs.

There are new Republican Chairs of the Appropriations, Commerce, Education and Professional Licensure Committees.

New Democratic Chairs will take over the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Children and Youth, Consumer Affairs, Game and Fisheries and State Government Committees.

“The men and women who chair the House committees are getting the work done to prepare legislation for the full House to consider,” said Speaker Turzai.  “Through public hearings and meetings, committee chairs lead the way by vetting proposed solutions to the serious issues and challenges facing Pennsylvania.”

Speaker Turzai made the following appointments, which are unofficial until announced on the House floor--
